Briathra    

​Verbs are broken into:​
​
Briathra Rialta (Regular verbs that follow a set of rules)
  • 'An Chéad Réimniú' ​(Briathra Aonsiollacha = Single Syllable Verbs)
  • 'An Dara Réimniú' (Briathra Dháshiollacha = Two Syllable Verbs)​
​Briathra Neamhrialta ​(Irregular verbs that don't follow a set of rules)
Some verbs do not follow a regular set of rules. These are called the irregular verbs. There are 11 such verbs and must each must be  learned across the tenses.

​Within the above branches, the verbs are broken down even further into
  • Briathra Caol (Slender Verbs). Slender verbs last vowel is i and e.   - Bris, Bailigh ​
  • Briathra Leathan (Broad Verbs). Broad verbs last vowel is a  , o and u.  - Dún, Ceannaigh
  • Each of these have different endings!

​'F' Verbs - Using the rules above, you can conjugate verbs beginning with 'F' i.e. Put D'fh at the beginning. This rule only applies in the past tense.

​Vowel Verbs - Using the rules above, you can conjugate verbs beginning with a 
vowel i.e Put D' before it. This rule only applies in the past tense.​
